OUR MISSION
Our Mission
To bring the love and truth of Jesus to the children and families of Lancaster City through weekly discipleship, mentorship, and Christ-centered relationships. We believe that God is faithful in every season, that strong relationships open doors for life transformation, and that a consistent presence in the community reflects the heart of Jesus. We also hold that every child deserves love, guidance, and hope.
Our Story
Light of Christ Ministries (LCM) began in 1995 when two young men, Darrel Hofer and Daryl Nolt, followed God’s call to walk the streets of Lancaster City and share the Gospel. What started as simple street outreach grew into a group of youth visiting homes, praying with families, and connecting with children hungry for hope. As volunteers began telling Bible stories on porches, sidewalks, and parks, the burden for the children became clear — and LCM’s children’s ministry was born.
God's Faithful Guidance
Over the years, God expanded the ministry in incredible ways
Growth & Structure
Routes were created to reach more neighborhoods. Weekly lessons, prayer meetings, and team planning became foundational. More volunteers joined, and more children began attending weekly sessions.
Buildings Through Prayer
LCM moved through many buildings — tiny apartments, churches, youth centers, and even a renovated barn. Every time a door closed, God faithfully opened another.
Strengthened by God's Provision
God continued to provide people, resources, and opportunities. Teams grew stronger through prayer, unity, and shared purpose. The ministry developed deeper relationships with families in the community.
A HOME IN THE CITY
After years of praying and searching, God miraculously provided LCM’s first permanent building in 2005 at 540 S. Queen Street. Through generous giving and countless volunteers, the building was transformed into classrooms and ministry space — fulfilling a dream held for many years.
“From two young men walking the streets to a thriving children’s ministry, the story of LCM is a testimony of God’s faithfulness — one answered prayer at a time.”
